Keep it student-centered, content-focused, and engaging. For short topics, keep videos 5–10 minutes. For deeper dives, 20–30 minutes is fine. Plan your content, include PowerPoint slides, and make it readable and engaging.
Set clear goals for what you want your students to learn. Understand that teaching online takes time. Create a schedule, give yourself breaks, and check in regularly with your students.
Be accessible. Provide your email and phone for questions and respond promptly. Even if few students reach out, they should feel supported.
Track the number of students who pass and gather feedback through polls or surveys after the course. Success is measured in engagement and learning outcomes.
Weekly meetings work best. They don’t need to be long but should cover course content, allow questions, invite guest speakers, and include collaboration with other professors when appropriate.
